How to Cure Your Sun Allergy Reaction.. Day 2

The THREE Major Causes of Sun Allergies

Yesterday, we showed you the most important thing to remember when confronting your sun allergy: Avoid irritation.

When you finish today's conversation, you'll understand why you have allergic reactions to the sun.

Today, we'll examine...

The THREE major causes of sun allergies

Thanks to the dermatologists and researchers behind Dermage, we understand the science behind allergic reactions to the sun.

Unfortunately, it's not just one thing that causes sun allergies.

But, as we promised you, we'll break this into easy-to-understand pieces - so you can focus on being free from your sun allergy.

We'll take a quick look at each of the three causes, one by one.

Let's start with the first cause of sun allergies:

Now, before we share with you the first cause of sun allergies, do yourself a favor.

Make a promise with yourself that you'll read all of this lesson... no matter what you think about the first cause that we're about to mention.

All right, did you promise yourself to keep reading? Then you're ready to hear the first cause of sun allergies...

You are using an irritating shampoo.

We know that might sound random or irrelevant to you. Your shampoo is probably great for your hair.

But it's the wrong shampoo for your face's sun allergies.

Here's how we know that you're using the wrong shampoo:

First, your sun allergy is primarily along your forehead, and also the sides of your face, right?

Your allergic reactions to the sun are worst where your hair touches your face.

That tells you that something is wrong with what your hair care.

There's a dirty secret about most shampoos that every dermatologist knows. What's that dirty secret, you ask?

Many shampoos irritate your skin.

Look at the ingredients on your shampoo bottle.

Do you see "(something) lauryl sulfate", or "(something) laureth sulfate"? For example: sodium lauryl sulfate, or ammonium laureth sulfate?

Then you've got the wrong shampoo.

Lauryl sulfates and laureth sulfates are harsh chemicals. They do a great job of cleaning your hair... but they make the skin on your face more vulnerable to irritating ingredients in cosmetics, and to ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

And don't try a "natural" shampoo, either.

"Natural" shampoos don't use lauryl sulfates or laureth sulfates. But they use plenty of other irritating ingredients.

Here's a short list of irritating ingredients in natural shampoos: avocado, balm mint, balsam, essential oils, eucalyptus, grapefruit, horseradish, lavender oil, lemon, lime, menthol, orange, papaya, peppermint, rose, sage, and thyme.

All right, that list wasn't short! But if we included all of the natural shampoo ingredients that could irritate your skin, you'd fall asleep before we finished.

One thing is clear, though:

Your sun allergies show
you're using the wrong shampoo.

Now for the second cause of your sun allergies:

You are using irritating skin care products.

Sure, most skin care products claim to be "hypoallergenic".

And under perfect conditions, most skin care products do not irritate your skin.

But we don't live in perfect conditions. We live in a world that brings us stresses, heat, cold, wind, pollution, and hormonal changes.

Do you know how to tell that your skin care products are causing your sun allergy?

If your shampoo was the only problem, then your sun allergy would also be on your scalp, the back of your neck, and your hands... everywhere that is touched by your irritating shampoo.

But your sun allergy isn't doing that, right? You might get a little sunburn on the back of your neck, but not the full allergic reaction.

Take a moment to think about this:

Your allergic reaction to the sun is worst along your forehead and the sides of your face... right where your shampoo and your skin care products meet.

So it's true that something is wrong with your shampoo, but...

Your skin care products are
the big cause of your sun allergies.

Lastly, let's look at the third cause of allergic reaction to sun:

Sunlight intensifies skin irritation by the wrong shampoo and the wrong skin care products.

Without realizing it, you have been damaging your skin with the wrong shampoo, and then putting irritating skin care products on top of that.

When you stay inside, your skin is just strong enough to hold out. Maybe you get a little sting when you apply your skin care products, or a little redness.

As long as you stay inside, your skin isn't doing too bad.

But go out into the sun for even a short time, and you've got a full-blown sun allergy.

By itself, the sun's UV rays can cause sunburn. And over decades of life, ultraviolet is linked to skin cancer.

But your sun allergies break out when the sun's UV triggers your irritating skin care products, where your skin has also been weakened by your shampoo.

So on a bad day, you are mixing together all three causes of sun allergies.

The irritation from all of that is just too much for your skin to handle. So it reacts to to protect itself from irritation, just like we described in Day 1.

By now, you understand that...

The sun is a part of your sun allergy -
but only when you use the wrong shampoo
and the wrong skin care products.

Let's sum up the three causes of sun allergies:

  1. Your skin has been irritated by the wrong shampoo.
  2. On top of that, your skin is further irritated by the wrong skin care products.
  3. You get one more layer of irritation from the sun's UV rays.

It's not enough to deal with only one of the causes of your sun allergy.

Each of these causes works on its own to irritate your skin. And put together, they cause terrible allergic reactions and breakouts.

To truly cure your sun allergy,
you must deal with ALL THREE causes.
